At least I know, now." We all have illusions that we're going to be the best teachers as soon as we get in to the field. We'll be the best and most liked. New teachers are bad about that. But, they aren't prepared for the fact that their first year of teaching is often their worst because there are so many x factors that our education hasn't prepared us for. "We grow a lot from the mistakes we make. The important thing is that we learn from them and apply the knowledge." ... I thonk Pol Pot said that.imcriswellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00486735215819682234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5335268690862258369.post-28793259020315164442007-01-31T20:38:00.000-05:002007-01-31T20:38:00.000-05:00I have never taught an English or writing class be...I have never taught an English or writing class before, however, I used to teach various forms of dance (predominantly ballet and modern) in a rural community. During my first year of teaching I was incredibly overzealous in my attempt to teach my "uncultured" pupils not only the art of dance, but the exact technicality of dance. I was completely confident that they would "leap" right in and catch my excitement. Well, you know how the story goes. I was so focused on their errors that I forgot to share the joy of dance, much less let them find their own voice through movement. Hindsight became my best friend.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
